Alan Perks

Alan trained in drama and theatre at the University of Durham’s school of education.
He is a successful practitioner having worked initially in TIE and then in the secondary sector, combining pastoral responsibility and drama. Alan regularly works with students and teachers across the key stages on specific projects and long term drama strategies.

Alan’s recent work includes writing and delivering training courses around aspects of examined drama at KS4 and post 16 for Edexcel, Keynote Educational, Philip Allan Updates and A4e Services For Education. He currently teaches two days a week, including GCSE and 'A' Level groups and at keystage 3.

Alan was an Education Advisor with A4e Services For Education for three years. He was involved in developing curriculum support materials and courses. He developed and wrote the blueprint for Life Academy from A4e Services For Education, an alternative education provision for disaffected 14-16 year olds.

He regularly contributes to Rhinegold’s ‘Teaching Drama’ publication and is currently working with Jacqueline on two books supporting the Edexcel A Level specification, to be published by Routledge.

Alan is Chief examiner for Edexcel’s A Level Drama and Theatre Studies specification and a Team Leader and examiner for GCSE.
He is delighted to have been appointed as Chief Examiner for the new Edexcel 'A' Level specifications and to be involved in the writing of support materials from Edexcel and dramaperks limited.

Jacqueline Porteous

Jacqueline graduated in the early eighties from the University of Warwick completing a Drama and Theatre Studies degree before going on to acquire QTS.

She has taught in Derbyshire schools for over 20 years and has been involved in numerous projects commissioned by the Advisory Service.

She currently leads a large Creative Arts Faculty in one of the top 100 high performing specialist schools in the country which was graded as OUTSTANDING in November 2005 by Ofsted. She has supported drama departments in many centres as part of the Leading Edge Partnership Programme.

Jacqueline is delighted to have been appointed as a Principal Moderator for Edexcel's new 'A' Level specification and she is currently writing support materials for Edexcel and dramaperks limited.

She is writing two books with Alan to support the A Level Drama and Theatre Studies specification, to be published by Routledge in 2009.
